The Black Oxygen Podcast is a series of conversations about what it means to be fully alive — rooted in Wisconsin Black voices, stories, and experiences, and open to anyone willing to listen deeply.

Hosted by Angela Russell and produced in partnership with Madison365, Black Oxygen has spent six years and over 150+ episodes amplifying Black voices, stories, and experiences with honesty, depth, care, and often laugher. Guests include local leaders, politicians, artists, community builders, healers, and everyday people doing extraordinary things.

Topics range from leadership, community care and grief, to joy, healing, resilience, birding, and the full complexity of Black life — not just the weight of systemic challenge, but the beauty of what we collectively build in spite of and because of it.

Black Oxygen has been recognized with multiple awards, including the Milwaukee Press Club's Best Original Podcast.

You can find the Black Oxygen Podcast on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and iHeart Radio. The current season’s theme is collective care. Links to each podcast episode from this season are below.
